day 8 : Letting Go

On the importance of letting go. What is gained by clinging?

I feel the importance of releasing your beliefs daily. Not to say that you can’t come back to them. But the willingness to let go so as to re-evaluate if it is still true.  For too long people have held dearly to the better off departed.

The nature of all phenomenon is change, from the moth to the mountain, nothing is stable and permanent, everything, on some scale is in motion. The idea of things existing statically is just not true.

And so the importance of letting go.  Letting go of the weights and ideas and beliefs that may be condemning you. The willingness to let go is an incredible gift.

Even on the personal level, in order to become who we are destined to be, we must be willing to let go of all that we think we are. It is necessary for change, for growth, for evolution. ‘Universal change is the ultimate creative potential.’

Imagine the freedom, the levity, of letting go. In your mind see all the ideas you may be holding so dearly too. Including both the ones that bring you pleasure and bring you pain. See them all. Gather them all. The, ‘I am not good enoughs’, the ‘I am better than hims’, the grudges that we may be holding. Gather them all. All your beliefs. Your entire sense of identity. Gather them all and put them into the metaphorical fire. Let the entire idea of your existence deisolve.

And now, feel this place, this space that is boundless and full of incredible power. Imagine if all your divested energy was returned to you. How would you choose to spend it if you could redistribute it? Would you spend as much time trying to impress your friends? Would you do it all differently? Or maybe you’d do it all the same? Either way the practice has great value. Be willing to release everything, daily in order to fully stand in your power.

Here now I let go of my insecurities. I let go of the notions that I the idea that there is anything that I have to do. Even releasing the idea that I must release everything all the time.

And from this place, this place of detached freedom, I have a clearer sense of who I really am. The irony exists because as I let go of all the beliefs that I’ve thought I needed to survive, I gain a clearer picture of my true identity, a unit of consciousness and awareness that makes no demands. And there is more peace. There is an effortlessness that takes over, and things begin to be done without the effort of doing.

We are all constantly changing and growing. The person that I am today is not the person that I was yesterday. Even on a cellular level we are constantly regenerating. And so it is a basic decency to acknowledge the changing nature of existence. And so I allow myself to change, and in doing so I allow everyone else to change. Imagine if you were condemned by society for a mistake you once made, never allowed to move on. Even if you were seated in the best of intentions, it can be difficult for people to let go.

And so I implore you, for the benefit of yourself and the world. Let go, begin again, and evaluate your thoughts and beliefs on a daily basis. Ask yourself, is this any longer true? Because from that place, we are able to grow and adapt at a much quicker rate.

Let go. Forgive yourself and forgive others.

That is not to say that we don’t learn from our mistakes – that we ignore what we have learned from experience.  On the contrary, it is allowing ourselves to learn to change and grow at a rapid rate by questioning and constantly re-evaluating everything.

And so I let go of my attachments and begin fresh each and every day. I forgive myself for the mistakes I have made, and I forgive others who may have mistaken me. I let go of my interpretations of the past, and I let go of my desires for the future. And from this place, this emptiness within, I feel immense power and that power can be directed as I please.

I am not bound by any idea. I feel a freedom to create based on the best choice in this moment.

I feel weightlessness and it makes me smile.

I allow myself to grow and change. I am not a victim of my past. In this moment I am creating the life I want. With courage I let go of what was to make way for what will be. I am ready for change.
