The Creative Will
This is the first piece in the 18″x24″ collection. It was a daunting task, to fill a page this large. My largest pieces to date were only 8.5″x11″. I set out with the strong determination to fill the page, no matter what. I was not driven by a strong visual concept, rather, I committed to exploring weight, form, and density in an artwork. After the outline was finished, I’d fill with colour while meditating on my emotional states.

Pink Dawn // The Mountain
The Mountain represents stillness. It is drawn in black and white ink which here suggests that the masculine and feminine principles are working in harmony. The mountain is both inwardly still and outwardly still.
Around the mountain the world develops. We see trees on cliffs and the waters below. We see yellow and green gases and grasses, and beings that rise up into the pink sky. We see creatures above and eyes looking down.
Colour is crucial in my artistic process. Each colour is associated with different emotional energies, and as I apply the ink I focus on my emotional well being. The colour pink, for me, is associated with unconditional love as love without expectation and so this image portrays the radiant love which descends upon the mind that is still.
